Southern Sweet Grilled Pork Chops

This recipe came out of the old favorite “We need to use this stuff, or it will go bad,” scenario. Here’s the deal. We had some Apple Butter that was getting close to its expiration date, so Robbie asked, “you know any recipe that uses Apple Butter?” I said sure, and I searched the internet for a couple of days for a unique use of Apple Butter, and here it is. Grilled pork chops with a Southern twist…And I can guarantee you, I won’t have any apple butter getting close to the expiration date again…

Ingredient

½ cup Barbeque sauce

¼ cup Apple Butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground black pepper

2 cloves garlic (I didn’t use the garlic-I say the garlic is optional)

3 (4 ounce) pork chops

Whisk the apple butter, bbq sauce, brown sugar, black pepper together in a microwave bowl. Heat in the microwave til the sugar dissolves– about 30 seconds, and stir until smooth.

Place the pork chops on a plate and pour the sauce over the chops. Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours to let flavor soak into the chops.

Pre heat grill to medium, take chops out of sauce and grill them til done. (center of chops should read 145 degrees F)  When serving, spoon sauce over pork chops. Leave sauce on the side heated slightly if you want to spoon more.
